It’s week 2 of our purging process in preparation for the holidays! How’s it going? Or, how did you go? Did you part ways with some shoes and books that were no longer useful?

I am proud to say that I am 22 pairs of shoes and 20 books lighter! Yay! My house lost weight! Be sure to leave your success in the comments below. Also tell us what you plan to do with the books and shoes your family no longer needs.

While I am not a hoarder, I do keep A LOT of things. Like, a lot. I say, “Awwwwwwwww” frequently when looking at things from the past and that keeps me from getting rid of items that I really don’t need to keep anymore. I have notes and letters from over 20 years ago and movie stubs and receipts…and many, many, many items…just because. Since we have 4 more weeks of purging, I feel like I need some reminders to keep my focused and out of that nostalgic “Awwwww” mode. I pulled out a few words of wisdom that have helped in the past and should hopefully help now to keep us focused on ridding our homes of unnecessary things.

This verse helps me "check" how much value I'm placing on things.

These are great questions to ask yourself when you're feeling unsure of an item.

Our next two areas of focus:  Underwear {including socks, pantyhose, bras, etc.} and Coats/ Jackets!

When is the last time you cleaned out your underwear drawer? For me, it’s been a loooonng time! My sock drawer alone is stuffed full, but I really only wear the same few pairs of socks over and over {after washing of course}.

With colder days ahead, this is a great time to bless someone else with a warm coat or jacket that’s been taking up valuable space in your home!

Happy Purging!

  1. You posted some great questions that I should ask myself when deciding whether to keep something or throw it away...there are definitely some things that I have kept over the years....underwear...bras that I need to let go of....and even with socks especially the ones I know don't even stay on my feet good.....I am officially motivated to purge....purge...purge
